Bill Murray on Cubs: "This is the year"

by - Senior Editor -

Legendary actor and comedian Bill Murray took in Sunday afternoon's baseball game featuring the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.

Murray is a die-hard Cubs supporter and believes that this is the year that the Cubs win the World Series.

"This is the year," Murray told the Atlanta Braves' broadcast booth. "I think you know that. I think we all know that. The folks at home know that, the American people know that. This is the year. They're really having a lot of fun, they're just having so much fun. It started last year. They weren't quite ready to win it all last year, but gosh they had fun, and they're really having fun now. And they have an amazing amount of talent put together here."

Murray also visited the Cubs' broadcast booth and explained to Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies that Turner Field had a unique smell.

"It smells like hamburgers here," he said. "I've never been to a ballpark where it smelled like hamburgers. This is the first place."

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced on Monday that Murray will be the 2016 recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. It is the nation's top prize for humor.
