Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is with the rest of his teammates at Wrigley Field preparing for a shortened 2020 season.

Regardless of how the season plays out, his future with the ballclub has always been somewhat in doubt because he is represented by superagent Scott Boras who normally likes his players to test free agency.

Bryant was asked during media interviews on Monday about his future with the ballclub with trade rumors floating around during this offseason.

"I'd like it not to be a concern. I would like to think that I wouldn't be shipped out in the middle of a pandemic," he said via Cubs beat writer Patrick Mooney. "But I'm trying to make it clear that I really love it here. I love playing here, and I love everything about the city and the people."

Bryant added that he has really feels appreciated in Chicago.

"You want to be around people that want you and care for you, and I've certainly felt that being a Chicago Cub."

Bryant kept it classy and didn't want to discuss the possibility of a long-term deal with the Cubs to the media as he felt it was "insensitive" to talk financial dealings with a pandemic sweeping the country.
