Report: Schwarber expected to DH in Game 1 for Cubs

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs catcher Kyle Schwarber has been playing in the Arizona Fall League to prepare for his possible return for the 2016 World Series. According to MLB Network's Jon Moresi, "Kyle Schwarber en route to Cleveland now on a private jet. He's expected to DH for the #Cubs in Game 1."

The Cubs do not have to announce their official World Series roster until Tuesday morning so we should know shortly if this report is correct or not. If Schwarber makes the World Series roster, all credit goes to Schwarber, the training staff, Cubs management, and all those that had a hand in helping this young superstar back so quickly from a torn ACL.

Schwarber went 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and a run scored playing for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League on Monday afternoon.

In 2015, Schwarber hit .246 with 16 home runs, 43 RBIs with an excellent .842 OPS in only 69 games (273 at-bats) in his rookie season. In nine career postseason games, he hit .333 with five homers in only nine games.
