This could be the final year that Jon Lester pitches for the Chicago Cubs.

Lester is a fan favorite and one of the clubhouse leaders of the ballclub.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo spoke with the media Friday and talked about what Lester has meant to him.

"That's one of my closest friends in the game," he said. "He's done everything for me and has taught me and help me develop as a person, as a teammate, and as a leader. His generosity, all the gifts he has bought us, everything he has done off the field for us, the parties he has thrown for us, the team gatherings. And on the field, how professional he is."

Rizzo went on to say that Lester is one of his two most important teammates ever.

"Right next to Starlin Castro, Jon Lester is the most important baseball player in my life and for my career, personally."

Rizzo said that Castro means a lot to him because he showed him what it takes to be a baseball professional.

"It was a bond we had that was special to me," he said.
