Former Chicago Cubs starter Ryan Dempster is returning to baseball. However, not for the Cubs but for Team Canada in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

"I was putting up some real good numbers in beer-league softball, " Dempster said via Shi Davidi of SportsNet.

Dempster is now 40 years old and has not pitched since 2013. For his career, he was 132-133 with 4.35 ERA with 2075 strikeouts.

Regardless of what Cubs fans think of Ryan Dempster, The Cubs traded Dempster and gained standout pitcher Kyle Hendricks.
