Cubs select Yankees infielder in Rule 5 Draft

The Chicago Cubs selected Yankees minor league third baseman Kevin Cornelius in the Triple-A portion of the Rule 5 Draft on Thursday morning.

The 24-year old third baseman has a lifetime .296 batting average with 22 homers and 91 RBIs in 146 games in the minors and a career .383 on-base percentage in four minor league seasons (581 plate appearances).

He was a 31st round pick in the 2013 MLB draft.
