Not a huge surprise at all with the Professor not in session.

Chicago Cubs starter Marcus Stroman has been named the 2023 Opening Day starter for the Northsiders against the Brewers on March 30.

Stroman was happy about the news of him getting the ball first for the Cubs.

"Beyond thankful and grateful to be named the Opening Day starter for this year," Stroman tweeted Wednesday. "Truly can’t wait to feel the energy in Wrigley. CUBS fans…THANK YOU in advance for the passion and vibe y’all provide each and every day. Can’t wait to compete for you all year!"

Stroman pitched well in the WBC recently with a 3.00 ERA and O.89 WHIP in two starts giving up only three runs on seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

In 2022 for the Cubs, he had a 6-7 record with a 3.50 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 119 strikeouts.
