by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs have recently provided updates on the injury status of several key players on Friday, including veteran outfielder Cody Bellinger.

Bellinger has been making strides in his recovery as he recently began a running progression, which is a positive sign indicating that he is gradually working his way back to full strength.

It will be day-to-day on how he feels.

'Belli' was seen taking early batting practice at Petco Park on Friday and also doing agility work and running, being watched by the Cubs training staff.

So it appears that he is getting closer and closer to being back from his hamstring injury.

For the season, he is batting .271 with seven homers and 20 RBIs.

The Cubs have missed his bat in the middle of the lineup as well as his gold-glove play in the middle of the outfield.

In other injury news, Cubs reliever Brad Boxberger is doing long toss today and is building up his arm strength after his injury.

Long toss is a standard practice to gradually increase throwing distance and intensity.

The Cubs' bullpen will benefit from his presence and experience, making his return eagerly anticipated by the team.
