Report: Cubs trade pitcher to Mets |
The Chicago Cubs have traded righty pitcher Vinny Nittoli on Friday to the New York Mets for cash considerations.
"The Mets have traded for right-handed reliever Vinny Nittoli from the (Chicago) Cubs," MLB.com's Anthony DiComo tweeted Friday. "He was in limbo after opting out of his minor league contract yesterday. Will go on the Mets' 40-man roster but can be optioned." Nittoli had a 3.48 ERA in 16 games for the I-Cubs this season. He spent most of last season with the New York Yankees. Mets announce they’ve sent cash to the Cubs for right-handed reliever Vinny Nittoli.
Nittoli pitched two scoreless innings for the Phillies last year and has a 3.48 ERA in Triple-A this year.
