Cubs News: Bryant excited about possibility to play with Harper

by - Senior Editor -

Kris Bryant and Bryce Harper are BFFs since their early playing days around 13 growing up in their hometown of Las Vegas.

Bryant was asked about the chances that Harper would join the Cubs in 2019 when he reaches free agency.

“I guess the only thing I can tell you is his dog’s name is Wrigley, so he must like us a little,” Bryant said during Cubs convention. “I would love to have him, but I don’t want to bring that up with him because it’s tough.

“It’s probably going to be the most exciting free agency ever,” Bryant said. “Regardless of what he does this year, people are going to pay a lot for him, and rightfully so.”

In 2017, Harper hit .319 with 29 homers, 87 RBIs, and had an impressive .413 on-base percentage. In his MLB career, he has batted .285 with 150 home runs and 421 RBIs. He was named rookie of the year in 2012 and won the MVP award in 2015.
