Cubs News: Javy Baez scratched from Monday's lineup

Chicago Cubs shortstop was slated to start Monday afternoon's game against the Pirates. However, Baez is a late scratch with a thumb injury according to Cubs officials. No word yet if he injured his thumb during pregame warmups or how his injury occurred.

On Sunday, he was hit in the eye by during a head first slide against the Braves. He got checked out at Northwestern hospital yesterday and felt no dizziness after the game. Baez has started every game since Aug. 3 as he has done impressive work replacing the injured Addison Russell at shortstop.

In 2017, Baez is batting .271 with 21 homers, 67 RBI, and .315 on-base percentage.
