Cubs reportedly hire new bullpen coach |
The Chicago Cubs have replaced long-time bullpen coach Lester Strode with Chris Young according to multiple reports on Thursday.
Chris Young is the former Phillies pitching coach and also been a pro scout with the Astros and Padres. He also spent some time as a minor league pitcher for the Pirates, Marlins, and Rockies going as far as the Triple-A level. He is 38-years old and was fired when Gabe Kapler was let go with the Phillies this offseason. This sounds like a great hire based on the fact that you have a former pitching coach with experience helping guys in the bullpen. Sadly, long-time coach Strode was let go who had worked under five different Cubs managers since 2007. You can't blame the Cubs because the bullpen was a disaster last season. Something had to be changed. It appears there will be plenty of new faces with the coaches and players on the Northside in 2020.
