CHICAGO — In a twofold domination of the Cincinnati Reds (56-72), the Chicago Cubs (73-53) performed well at the plate in a 7-1 victory. In addition, Cubs starting pitcher Cole Hamels produced arguably his best outing of the season by pitching a complete game and striking out seven.

Chicago tallied a pair of home runs in the win. First baseman Anthony Rizzo homered for the third straight game, and shortstop Javier Baez pounded out a 481-foot moonshot, which marked the longest dinger hit by a Cub this season. As for Hamels, he improved to 4-0 in a Cubs uniform and currently boasts an ERA of 0.79 with the North Siders.
