WATCH: Rizzo drills three-run homer in opening inning |
CHICAGO — In game one of the Crosstown Classic between the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox, the Cubs attained an early edge, thanks to a grand slam hit by catcher Willson Contreras in the opening inning.
Game two brought with it a similar beginning, as Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo drilled a three-run shot just over the wall in left-center field to put the Cubs up 3-0. The #Cubs have no problem striking early... this time it's Anthony Rizzo with an opposite field shot A 380-footer with an exit velocity of 107 miles per hour, the three run shot came on an outside fastball thrown by White Sox starter James Shields. Marking Rizzo's sixth home run of the season and fifth dinger in the month of May, the first-inning bomb scored Javier Baez and Kris Bryant, who, earlier in the inning, tripled and walked, respectively.
