Tough news for the Cubs.

Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell told the media Monday that young pitcher Ben Brown is currently out with a neck strain.

“We’ve shut Ben Brown down for the time being,” Counsell said. “We just weren’t making progress. We don’t have a date for when he can pick it up. We got to get him symptom-free.”

Brown has a 1-3 record in 15 appearances, including eight starts, with a 3.58 ERA and low 1.08 WHIP this season.
