WATCH: Yu Darvish comes through with opposite-field RBI single

CHICAGO — With his second RBI of the season, Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish smacked a single to the opposite field to plate third baseman David Bote on Friday. The go-ahead base knock to right field came with two outs in the bottom of the second, and it put the Cubs up 2-1 on the New York Mets at Wrigley Field.

In the at-bat that followed a game-tying RBI groundout by center fielder Albert Almora Jr., Darvish connected on a four-seamer thrown by Mets starter Jason Vargas and lined it into the outfield to usher Bote home and give the Cubs the lead. The two RBI is a new season high for Darvish, who has spent the majority of his career playing for the Texas Rangers of the American League.
