by - Senior Editor -

Dansby Dinger alert!

On Thursday afternoon, Dansby Swanson made it a memorable one at Wrigley Field as he hit his first home run as a Chicago Cub.

The shortstop's solo homer came in the bottom of the seventh inning against the San Diego Padres, putting the Cubs up 5-1 and sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

The homer traveled 359 feet with an exit velocity of 96.7 MPH with a launch angle of 37 degrees.

Swanson's home run drought had been a talking point in recent weeks, with the infielder going 104 plate appearances without a long ball.

Overall, Swanson's first home run as a Cub was a moment to savor for both the player and the fans. It was a long time coming, but the infielder showed that he has the power to make an impact in the Cubs lineup. As the season progresses, fans will no doubt be hoping for more moments like this from Swanson and the rest of the team.

Last season, Swanson hit 25 homers and had 96 RBIs, and he hit his first homer that season on April 28.
