Belge will add bullpen depth for the Cubs
Cubs, Rays swap pitchers in a trade |
The Chicago Cubs have acquired lefty Jeff Belge from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for lefty reliever Richard Lovelady on Saturday.
Belge has a 4.20 ERA across 15 innings this season in Double-A.
The 26-year-old adds much-needed bullpen depth to the Cubs organization.
To make room on the Rays roster, RHP Jacob Waguespack has been transferred to the 60-Day Injured List.
Lovelady has played in five seasons in the majors with a 5.48 ERA.
The Cubs recently DFA'd him after he had a 7.94 ERA in 5 2/3 innings this season.
