Verlander's velocity could really come in handy for the Cubs though. Not a whole lot of velocity and superior command in that starting rotation for Chicago right now. Of course, Arrieta has the velocity but his command has been questionable (to say the least) off and on this season. The thing with Verlander is: sure, his contract stinks but he still consistently goes 7 innings in his starts. The Tigers have been largely disappointing these last few years which has skewed Verlander's deceptively subpar record. And at this point anything is an improvement in the rotation over Lackey, right?
