Whatever happened to a starter finishing a game

if this is what happens when you take the starters out then i blame the manager for taking him out. what comes around goes around and it's time for the starters to complete some games instead of turning things over to the bullpen.

Dang he already at around 110 pitches...I guess he needs to man up and throw 150.

Darvish had like 75 pitches in 2.2 innings- he'd have to throw about 300 pitches to complete a game.

He should have... his blister would be 100x nastier after that.

one word: conditioning

both physical and mental. the current lot of pitchers don't do a lot of either type. they're all relatively weak compared to 40 years ago when it was expected if you were pitching well you would stay in the game. the reason a pitcher is in the bullpen is that they're not as good of a pitcher. keep them there and if things go well you don't need them.
