Miles Mikolas (9-14, 4.29) vs. Yu Darvish (6-7, 4.02)

Finale of 4-game series. Final regular-season game of the year at Wrigley Field. Cubs looking to avoid a sweep.

E1 — Yadi suffers a rare defensive mistake on a blatant passed ball. Run scores. Cubs suffer 2 straight outs after that. A pair of defensive blunders by the Cards help the Cubs get on the scoreboard.

E8 — Wacky scene w/ runners at the corners. Happ gets caught in a rundown, but Cards' fear of Baez scoring leads to Happ making it back to 1B. Schwarber lines out to RF after that. Bottom of the 9th coming.

T9 — Almora inserted into the game as the CF (perhaps for defensive reasons &/or to give him a final outing at Wrigley). He's unable to make a difficult play on a deep drive. Leadoff triple by Martinez hits off Almora's glove.

B9 — Miller pitching the 9th. Zobrist fouls a ball of his foot & hobbles around before popping up on the IF. Contreras then enters as a pinch hitter & strikes out swinging. Contreras not happy w/ strike-two call. He continues to bark at home-plate umpire while heading back to dugout. Heyward the last hope for the Cubs.
