Jason Vargas (3-3, 3.74) vs. Yu Darvish (2-3, 4.65)

Second game of 4-game series. Darvish is looking for his first win at Wrigley Field, and the Cubs are looking to extend their winning streaks to three games.

B2 — Baez draws leadoff walk & then steals 2B. He reaches 3B after that on fielding error by third baseman. Cubs had runners on corners with 1 out, & Almora drove Baez home on grounder.

B5 — Odd controversy involving whether or not Rizzo swung at pitch leads to Vargas getting upset & then calming down & getting taken out of the game. Maddon discusses the situation with the umps. Checked swing got Rizzo for strike 3.

M7 — Mets have the lead again. McNeil smacks single into RF. Runner scores from 2B with 2 outs. McNeil inexplicably tries to stretch the routine hit into a double & gets thrown out easily to end the inning.

E8 — Baserunning blunder by Rizzo ruins potential run by Cubs. He rounds 2B & then freezes before getting caught in pickle on bloop hit to LF. He was trying to reach 3B with 2 outs before reconsidering. Tagout ends the scoring threat.
