Commentary: Manfred’s insanity at its finest with latest rule changes

I can’t help but find myself questioning some Manfred’s mindset and some of the insane ideas that he proposes. While fans are screaming for no television blackouts, Manfred is countering with three-man minimums for relievers. Full Story »

I personally dislike the 3 pitcher minimum, & rosters should be 30,(but NO NL DH) with the clubs deciding the makeup. the IL/DL should be 12 day minimum, 15 maximum. I'm fine with the shorter commercial breaks.

Moving the mound back 2 feet is a very BAD idea, teams will burn through arms big time. If they do that, maybe they should then consider raising the mound back to it's pre-1969 height?

Reduction of visits to the mound should have been left alone. It achieved it's objective, although it only cut the times of games by about 4-5 minutes. The DH in the AL makes their games much longer, IMO, but they'll never go back. The shortening of commercial breaks should be much more effective in terms of shortening game times. I would think that it would cut into revenue, so it will be interesting to see if it sticks permanently.

Nitehawk and I see eye to eye on this except for the DL. I like having a 7 day DL.

I will agree with Ken on two things. One, Manfred is insane and two, Ken is old.

Another change that will lead to injuries is allowing a guy out of the game to run only in extra innings. Wait until Aaron Judge pulls a hamstring and is out for 60 days. Remember you heard it here first.

For further direction, see my earlier column. (I'd link it here if I knew how to.)

I am greatly opposed to any player returning, with the sole exception being due to injury if the teams are out of players. Seeing pitchers pinch-run is ludicrous (unless its someone like Lorenzen who can also play the outfield).
