Commentary: Yu OK?

Maybe Yu Darvish has just had a run of bad luck with his body. Maybe these injuries are independent of one another, but maybe they’re not. Full Story »

Why lose a position player if Darvish comes back? Bite the bullet on Chatwood and just DA him!!!

Because Darvish won't be back before the trade deadline. The Cubs can't take a chance on not having a strong, healthy rotation. They won't trade a pitcher away- the only 2 that they would even consider trading would be Darvish or Chatwood, and each of them is worthless- that only leaves position players, prospects or possibly a reliever. If they go after a deGrom or a Syndergaard, they will have to make it worth while- and that's gonna cost them a player like Happ or maybe Russell...

You probably don't release a guy with $36 million left on his contract.

As a fifth starter, you hope he eats up innings at least and eventually gets back to his normal self.

How do you trust Chatwood in the pen though, if he can't be trusted to start? Short of a blowout game, I see no realistic situation use him in that wouldn't be a risk.

As a fifth starter, Chatwood is basically just a starter that eats up innings (5+ innings) until the playoffs. Kinda like a crappier Lackey.

He will give up his 3-5 runs a game and hopefully, the Cubs can win half of his games in comeback fashion. You just hope he gets it together in a month or two. At least he is healthy unlike Darvish.

He's too wild for the bullpen.
