Cubs News: Addison Russell placed on concussion injured list

Chicago Cubs infielder Addison Russell was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list retroactive to Sept 12. He will be eligible to return on Sept 19.

Russell is currently in concussion protocol after being hit in the side of the head during an at-bat against Brewers pitcher Adrian Houser on Sept. 8.

For the season, he is batting .227 with 9 homers and 23 RBIs.

Rookie shortstop Nico Hoerner and a combo of David Bote and Ben Zobrist have filled in for the injured Javy Baez and Russell while they have been out with injuries.
