Details of Cubs 2016 World Series rings

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs won their first World Series in over 100 years last season and finally will be able to celebrate again with their fans at their home opener at Wrigley Field on Monday night.

The new Championship banner will be flown at Wrigley Field as well as players getting their World Series rings for the first time. It will be one of the biggest parties of the year reminiscent of last season's magical run to the World Series Championship.

Each of the Cubs' championship rings will contain 108 diamonds which is one diamond for each of the years without a Cubs championship before 2016 according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward said to reporters on Sunday that he was able to give some input on the design of the ring.

"There’s a lot of our history in it," Heyward said. "It’s an awesome thing.”
