Nolan Arenado reportedly wants to play for Cubs, teams have discussed trade

by - Senior Editor -

The offseason can be crazy with rumors and misinformation flying around.

ESPN's Jeff Passan was on ESPN 100 with David Kaplan and shared the following trade bombshell on Wednesday.

"Nolan Arenado would love to come play for the Chicago Cubs. He would love it," he said.

Both teams have reportedly discussed a trade swapping Kris Bryant for Nolan Arenado, with the Rockies picking up some of his salary according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

This would be a blockbuster move by both teams, but it is possible since Bryant's grievance has finally been finalized after such a long wait.

More news on the Bryant front as USA TODAY's Bob Nightengale reports that Bryant's camp was not happy with how arbitration went down in the hearings.

Bryant “feels unwanted, underappreciated, and believes the organization openly lied during the arbitration" hearing.”

On the other hand, the Chicago Sun-Times spoke with Bryant's camp and had an entirely different take on the situation than Nightengale.

“Kris is fine,” the source said. “[He’s] focused on his workouts and preseason prep. Kris harbors no ill will whatsoever.”

I don't know whose source I believe, but it certainly will get interesting in the next few weeks on the North Side.
