Report: Cubs reliever optioned to Triple-A

Chicago Cubs reliever Justin Grimm has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday according to multiple reports.

Grimm has been struggling in 2017 with a 7.53 ERA including allowing six homers with 15 strikeouts and a high 1.67 WHIP in 14.1 innings. For his career, the 28-year old has 4.69 ERA with three saves, 306 strikeouts, and 1.40 WHIP.

Eddie Butler will take Grimm's roster spot and will make his Cubs debut on Friday night against the rival St. Louis Cardinals. Butler will fill in for injured starter Brett Anderson who is on the disabled list with a back injury.
