CHICAGO — Since moving into the leadoff spot on a permanent basis, Chicago Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber has developed a habit of going yard in the Cubs' first at-bat of the game. Tying the National League lead for leadoff home runs, Schwarber, who has hit all five of his leadoff round-trippers since May 1, skied a 389-footer out to right field to open the scoring action against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday.

Putting the Cubs up 1-0 in the bottom of the first at Wrigley Field, Schwarber smashed an elevated slider thrown over the plate by Braves starting pitcher Bryse Wilson on the third pitch of the plate appearance. Schwarber's leadoff homer left the bat at 102 miles per hour and sported a launch angle of 27 degrees. Schwarber now has 17 long balls and 37 RBI on the season.
