Cubs News: Arrieta, Maddon refused to sign autographs for World Series title

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs won their first World Series since 1908 and fans have been buying all the memorabilia that they can get their hands on to celebrate the historic achievement.

However, there will be no autographs from star pitcher Jake Arrieta and Cubs manager Joe Maddon from the night of the win.

"Only Two Chicago Cubs have refused to sign the team stuff, which includes balls, pictures, and several other pieces of merchandise. Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta and Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon chose not to take part in the signings," Terezowens.com said. "Arrieta reportedly turned down $250K to be a part of the team’s autographs. So when you see any of the 2016 Autographed team memorabilia, it’ll will be missing those two. Arrieta said he didn’t care about the money, and Maddon has a standing rule of never doing autographs."

If you peruse the Fanatics online store looking at Arrieta's autographs, you will not find any of those high priced items. The highest priced item is a $349.99 jersey for sale with his name on it.

That's a lot of money [250k] to turn down for some autographs, but I am sure that Arrieta doesn't need the extra spending money.
