All-Star, has become one of the most dominating pitchers in baseball over the last two seasons ... since the beginning of 2015, he has gone 40-14 with a 2.39 ERA (113 ER/426.1 IP), a pair of no-hitters and a .189 opposing batting average...Went 22-6 in 33 starts in 2015 and his 1.77 ERA (45 ER/229.0 IP) was the lowest for a Cubs qualifying starting pitcher in 96 years since 1919, when Pete Alexander had a 1.72 ERA...Received 17 of 30 possible first-place votes in the 2015 N.L. Cy Young vote, garnering 169 points ... the Dodgers Zack Greinke was second with 147 points. w Became the fifth pitcher in Cubs history to win the Cy Young Award, the first in 23 years since Greg Maddux took home the honor in 1992 ... Fergie Jenkins (1971), Bruce Sutter (1979) and Rick Sutcliffe (1984) are the others...Is 54-21 with six complete games, five shutouts and a 2.52 ERA (178 ER/634.2 IP) in 98 starts for the Cubs since he was acquired from Baltimore, July 2, 2013, with pitcher Pedro Strop and two international signing bonus slots (slot numbers three and four) for pitcher Scott Feldman and catcher Steve Clevenger...Has fanned a Cubs franchise-record 53 batters in the postseason and is tied for the franchise lead with seven postseason starts ... overall has gone 4-2 with a 3.64 ERA (17 ER/42.0 IP) in postseason play...Owns a 74-46 career major league record with six complete games, five shutouts and a 3.58 ERA (395 ER/992.2 IP) in 167 career games (161 starts) in seven big league seasons with Baltimore (2010-13) and the Cubs (2013-16)...Has posted a 2.20 ERA (78 ER/319.1 IP) in 49-career starts at Wrigley Field, the fifth-lowest ERA in the ballpark's history ... his .177 opponent average at Wrigley Field leads all pitchers...Has made two Opening Day starts, April 4, 2016 at the Angels and April 6, 2012 vs. Minnesota, with Baltimore. w Became the first pitcher in Orioles history to throw at least 7.0 shutout innings while allowing two or fewer hits on Opening Day ... is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/14.0 IP) on Opening Day...Ranked the Orioles No. 4 prospect by Baseball America entering the 2010 campaign...Selected to the 2008 U.S. Team for the XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game in New York...Pitched 6.0 shutout innings and struck out seven to earn the win in Team USA's 9-1 victory over China in the 2008 Olympics, winning a bronze medal...Originally selected by the Orioles in the fifth round of the 2007 Draft out of Texas Christian University...Participated in the 2015 and 2016 Cubs Caravan...Is a 2004 graduate of Plano East (Texas) High School.
