Cubs trade pitcher to Braves for cash

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

The Cubs announced on Wednesday that they had traded veteran right-hander Josh Collmenter to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations.

Collmenter was released by the Diamondbacks on Aug. 7 and the Cubs assigned him to Iowa on Aug. 15 as he made four starts and was 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 1.31 WHIP.

He was not part of the Cubs' recent additions to the active 40-man roster so he was certainly available to trade.
