Cubs News: Dansby Swanson out of lineup, dealing with knee issue

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

This is not ideal news for the Cubs.

Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson is out of the lineup this afternoon as he is dealing with a right knee issue.

"Tweaked something in his right knee [and] has been bugging him a little bit,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said during pregame.

This will be his second off day in the last week, and they hope that just some rest will be enough to get him back 100 percent. He originally hurt it on a slide at the end of the last homestand.

Nico Hoerner has replaced him in the lineup today at shortstop.

It is evident that Swanson hadn't looked like himself lately.

He is hitting only .209 with four homers and 12 RBIs.
