Cubs News: Jason Hammel leaves Monday's game with injury

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton  ·  Senior Editor ·

Cubs starting pitcher Jason Hammel had to leave Monday's game with the Dodgers after experiencing right hamstring cramping before the start of the third inning.

Hammel had pitched two innings with three strikeouts and one walk before being unable to continue. He was replaced by Travis Wood. It was the shortest start for a Chicago pitcher this season.

The injury could be worrisome as Hammel had a hamstring issue in the middle of last season that lingered throughout the rest of the season. The Cubs right-hander has posted a 6-1 and 2.09 ERA so far this season.
