Kyle Schwarber had successful left knee surgery in Dallas with the Dallas Cowboys orthopedic specialist on Tuesday.
Schwarber took to Twitter following his surgery to express his appreciation to all of his fans. "Watching the boys get after it," Schwarber tweeted. "Thank you all for the prayers and best wishes! Let's get this win!" The Cubs anticipate a full recovery for Schwarber and should have him healthy for the start of the 2017 baseball season. Schwarber will miss the remainder of the season due to full tears of his right ACL and LCL and a severely sprained ankle. The injury occurred during an outfield collision with center fielder Dexter Fowler in Arizona on April 7. Second-year outfielder Jorge Soler has been receiving most of the playing time since the left field absence of Schwarber. In 2015, Schwarber hit .246 with 16 home runs, 43 RBIs with an outstanding .842 OPS in only 69 games (273 at-bats) in his rookie season. Watching the boys get after it!
