WATCH: Russell makes defensive play of the year

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs shortstop Addison Russell saved three runs with a diving catch after a long run against the Pirates in the seventh inning on Wednesday night.

Russell ran 106 feet for a pop up that had only a 5.6 second hang time.

The defensive gem was the play of the game as the Cubs hung on to win the game 6-5.

"It was more like running and like a one-legged jump slide," Russell said to reporters about the catch.
