Tom Ricketts confirming we are in for a long dry summer

The owner basically said to the fans...I like your money but why spend it...He has got the rosiest pair of glasses yet... Really saying...watch the DVD of 2016 it isnt gong to happen again any time soon! I want to make money from all you foolish fans and laugh all the way to the bank...
Trust me if the Nationals and Redsox can still spend why cant the Cubs??????????????
Greed perhaps? He is doing like the Packers of the NFL did ..waste talent by not adding the right pieces at the right time. Is his name Ted Thompson?? No bullpen additions..I can see not adding Harper but really...no arms....what the ****
I hope he enjoys celebrating St Louis winning the Central this year

Cubs fans will lose their minds if the Cardinals win the division this upcoming season.

Wolfpat apparently does not understand a few things. 1. The Ricketts family owns a business and its sole purpose is to make money. 2. There is a luxury tax that teams do not want to cross including the Red Sox and the Nationals, who are way under it. If you want the Cubs to spend money like every fan wants them to do then make them an offer and buy the team. You can then do whatever you want to do.

I don’t understand why the Cubs can’t get creative and make some moves like the dodgers. They seem to always be able to add big pieces.

Because the Dodgers had some issues they needed to address while the Cubs are in a much better position related to quality of players. The Cubs need to tweak some things, the Dodgers needed a re-do.

Cubs also need to be budgeting for the future to either pay guys who are becoming free-agents or have the money to replace them.
2020 Free Agents: Hamels, Zobrist, Cishek, Strop, Kinzler, Duensing.
2021 Free agents: Lester, Chatwood (Thank, God), Morrow, Quintana, Hendricks, Brach, Graveman.
2022: Rizzo, Descalso, Russell, Schwarber Montgomery, Bryant, Baez.
Lot of money right there.

They gonna get a ton of money available back from that 2020 Cubs FA list. Probably won't want to re-sign any of those but maybe 1 guy.
Most of those guys are getting very old.

2021 -- They are gonna wanna get Hendricks and 2022 there is a bunch of money to spend if these guys produce still by then and want to keep the infield together.

This is why I keep saying that they need to trade guys like Bryant and Happ while they are still controllable. They will get nothing when they walk in the next few years, and there's no way they'll be able to afford to keep all of them. MOST of the core, quality relievers and starters from this team will all be gone by 2021 due to free-agency, and this includes Baez, Bryant, Russell, Schwarber, Hamels, lester, hendricks, Strop and others. that's a LOT of big names.
