Cubs will do MRI on Soler's hamstring |
Cubs manager Joe Maddon said after Chicago's 6-4 over the Phillies on Monday night that outfielder
Jorge Soler will have an MRI on his hamstring on Tuesday morning.
"He is going for the MRI. We will find out more," Maddon told the beat writers after the game. "His left hammie. There is a little bit of a history with it so we will figure that out tomorrow morning." Soler was injured rounding first base after a single in the top of the third inning. He was removed from the game and Matt Szczur replace him as a pinch-runner. Maddon said there was never a question about Soler staying in the game. "Once I heard hammie running down to first base I said 'You are done. Let's go,'" Maddon said. "There is nothing to debate there. Hamstrings are nasty (injuries), and he has had a history so get him out of there." The injury for Soler comes as his bat was just starting to heat up. He was batting .308 with three homers, 10 runs, 7 RBIs and 7 walks in his last 15 games. A visibly upset Soler did not sound optimistic when discussing the injury with reporters which could mean a trip to DL is likely.
