Cubs manager Joe Maddon was ejected for defending Ben Zobrist on a called strike call in the sixth inning on Tuesday afternoon.

In the ninth inning, Zobrist was removed from the game after Javier Baez's strikeout so that Baez could move to second base and Addy Russell would enter the contest at shortstop.

This was a good time for Zobrist to continue his conversation with the home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi on the field and eventually, Zobrist got tossed even though he didn't appear to get too animated.

Kyle Schwarber also barked at Cuzzi during the contest after he struck out on another borderline call on the outside corner of the strike zone.

Zobrist told reporters after the game that he was tossed by Cuzzi because of the following statement about his strike zone.

"That's why we want an electronic strike zone," Zobrist said. "That's what got me tossed. I’m not going to lie...I think he was going toss me anyway before I said that, just because I wouldn't go away."

It was his first career ejection for Zobrist at any level of baseball.
