Cubs News: Javy Baez named to Sporting News' All-Star team

Cubs second baseman Javier Baez was named to the Sporting News' All-Star team on Wednesday voted on by 16 National League executives.

'El Mago' was the only Cubs player selected as he batted .290 with 34 homers, 111 RBIs, and .326 on-base percentage.

He ended up 6th in the NL in homers, 1st in RBIs, 8th in runs (101), 10th in SB (21), and 4th in slugging (.554).

The top vote-getter was J.T. Realmuto while the Brewers had the most players included with Lorenzo Cain, Christian Yelich, and Josh Hader.

The Sporting News has been naming All-Stars for nearly 100 years (1925).
