MLB will wear #42 on Friday to honor Jackie Robinson

Major League Baseball will have all of its teams including the Chicago Cubs wear #42 on Friday to honor Hall-of-Famer Jackie Robinson. The day will also have special ceremonies and will feature jeweled bases and special lineup cards.

Robinson made his MLB debut as the 1st African-American MLB player on this date back in 1947 and the #42 number was retired by all of Major League baseball in 1997.

"A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives," Robinson famously said.
