CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs (79-68) put together a pair of 5-run innings and a 7-run inning in an impressive 17-8 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates (65-83) on Friday. With 16 total hits, including five home runs, and 10 walks, the Cubs produced arguably their greatest offensive performance of the season.

Anthony Rizzo led the way for the Cubs by going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBI at Wrigley Field, and the four RBI came via a grand slam. Willson Contreras clobbered two impressive solo blasts for the North Siders, who erased an early 4-run deficit and won comfortably to begin their 10-game homestand.
