CHICAGO — Winning 5-1 in the finale of a five-game series at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs (24-18) never trailed against the St. Louis Cardinals (17-16) on Monday. The North Siders came out on top in the final meeting of the year between the longtime rivals.

Cubs ace Kyle Hendricks worked the Cardinals' batting order on Labor Day, giving St. Louis hitters the business in his eight-inning outing. Cubs shortstop Javier Baez went 3-for-4 at the plate with two infield singles. He was also part of three assisted double plays on defense.
