Underwent Tommy John surgery, July 29, 2015 … surgery was performed by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery ... Is 10-9 with a 3.38 ERA (88 ER/234.0 IP) with 390 strikeouts in 186 relief appearances in the minors ... Has surrendered just 12 home runs in 234.0 innings of work at the minor league level ... Originally selected by the New York Mets in the fifth round of the 2011 First-year Player Draft … became the highest drafted player in UMass-Lowell history ... Attended UMass-Lowell and as a junior in 2011, he went 6-2 with a 1.62 ERA with 126 strikeouts and 12.74 strikeouts per nine innings ... the strikeouts and strikeouts per nine innings were both school single-season records ... Graduated from Beverly High School (Mass.) in 2008 as the school's all-time leader in strikeouts and wins ... Was named the best pro prospect in 2009 Summer Valley League … in 2010, he pitched for Orleans in the Cape Cod League.
