
Roster Moves: Cubs recall reliever, place Daniel Palencia on IL |
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Ethan Roberts from Triple-A Iowa and placed right-handed pitcher Daniel Palencia on the 15-day injured list (right shoulder strain).
Roberts, 28, is 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA (6 ER/9.0 IP) in ten relief appearances with the Cubs this season. In 34 outings — one start — with Iowa, he is 1-4 with three saves and a 2.33 ERA (10 ER/38.2 IP) in 2025. With the I-Cubs he is holding hitters to a .218 batting average. Palencia, 25, owns a 3.00 ERA (17 ER/51.0 IP) and has a team and career-high 22 saves in 25 opportunities this season. He has 59 strikeouts to just 16 walks and a 1.18 WHIP. The Cubs play the Atlanta Braves tonight at 6:15 p.m. CT at Truist Park in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score and, in Spanish, on WRTO 1200 AM.
