SAN FRANCISCO — An inning after Chicago Cubs second baseman Robel Garcia hit a dinger at Oracle Park that splashed down in McCovey Cove, Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber nearly skied a solo shot into San Francisco Bay himself. Hammering a towering home run into the seats high above right field, Schwarber gave the Cubs a 2-0 lead over the San Francisco Giants on Monday.

The 392-foot round-tripper, which occurred in the top of the third, left the bat at 112 miles per hour and sported a launch angle of 22 degrees. A 2-out blast, the homer came on a first-pitch slider thrown by Giants starting pitcher Shaun Anderson. Schwarber now has 22 home runs and 47 RBI on the season.
