WATCH: Schwarber smokes 449-foot leadoff jack out onto Sheffield Avenue

by - Senior Writer -

On Friday, for the second day in a row, Chicago Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber hit a towering big fly that left the ballpark in a hurry. Schwarber tabbed his first career home run to lead off the game for the Cubs, as he continued to showcase that he is capable of being an effective leadoff hitter.

The 449-foot bomb to right flew out of Wrigley Field and onto Sheffield Avenue behind the right-field bleachers. Coming on a first-inning breaking ball thrown by Cincinnati Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani, the rainmaker was scorched off the bat at 112 miles per hour to give the Cubs an early 1-0 advantage. Schwarber now has eight homers and 18 RBI on the year. A persistent fan tracked down the baseball and recovered it for quite the souvenir.
