Quintana to make Cubs debut against Orioles

by - Senior Editor -

Thie Chicago Cubs announced that new starting pitcher Jose Quintana will make his Cubs debut against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday at 12:35 CDT at Orioles Park.

This season Quintana is 4-8 with a 4.49 ERA with 109 strikeouts in 104.1 innings pitched. In 2016, he was 13-12 with a 3.20 ERA in 32 starts and was named to the All-Star team.

For his career, he is 50-54 with a 3.51 ERA in 172 major league appearances. Quintana is tied for sixth in the majors in quality starts since his first full season in 2013.

The Cubs rotation after the break will go Montgomery, Arrieta, Quintana, Lester, and finally Lackey. Kyle Hendricks will have one more minor league rehab start before they make a decision on his next major league start.

If the rotation order the same for the Cubs and White Sox, Quintana could face his former team in the series finale on July 27.
