Cubs to face Giants in Game 1 on Friday

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs will face the San Francisco Giants on Friday night at Wrigley Field, live on FS1 at 9 ET. Cubs fans should know that the Cubs have won four out of seven games with the Giants this season.

Cubs will have National League Cy Young candidate Jon Lester (2.44 ERA, 197K) on the mound against righty Johnny Cueto (2.79 ERA, 198K).

Lester has a career 2.85 ERA in the postseason while Cueto's last playoff start was a complete game in which he only allowed two hits.

"This is 2016, so [the Giants] are going to be tough to beat, no doubt," Rizzo said to reporters after the Giants defeated the Mets on Wednesday night.

Giants ace Madison Bumgarner said the following after his shutout win against the Mets about the Cubs.

"I like our chances," Bumgarner said. "I'll go to battle with these guys any day."

ESPN analyst Aaron Boone likes the Cubs chances but the Giants are a formidable task in front of them.

"I absolutely buy into the theory that the Cubs are the best team in major league baseball," Boone said on SportsCenter. "But if there is one team that can scare them, it may very well be the Giants."
