Cubs News: Maddon discusses Schwarber playing in World Series

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs skipper Joe Maddon talked to 670 The Score on Tuesday afternoon as he previewed the upcoming game one of the World Series between the Cubs and Indians on Tuesday night.

Maddon said that Kyle Schwarber will DH tonight for the Cubs after a whole season of rehabbing his torn ACL.

"It takes one swing to have a great night, and he has those abilities," Maddon said.

Schwarber went 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and a run scored playing for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League on Monday afternoon.

In 2015, Schwarber hit .246 with 16 home runs, 43 RBIs with an excellent .842 OPS in only 69 games (273 at-bats) in his rookie season. In nine career postseason games, he hit .333 with five homers in only nine games.

In other injury news, Maddon said that trainers feel that C.J. Edwards' hamstring is OK and he will be a "full go" for Game 1 if needed.
